The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) is thrilled to announce the success of its 26th Annual Charity Surf Fishing Tournament, an event that brought together fishing enthusiasts and philanthropists for a great cause. The tournament took place in Nags Head, with stunning weather conditions, adding to the excitement and enjoyment of the participants.

The primary goal of this event was to raise funds for charity, and this year's beneficiaries were OBAR’s Disaster Relief and Scholarship funds held through the Outer Banks Community Foundation (OBCF). Through the generous contributions and dedication of those involved exceeded expectations in terms of fundraising and community support by raising almost $10,000.

"Sea Haven Grandfathers," led by Captain Gary Dunstan, Jr., took first place this year.  Gary said, "I have been a judge at this amazing charity event for several years, so it was great to return as a fisherman and win this year—I had an amazing team. This win is for every graduate and resident who's weathered the storms, and it's a promise that we'll always be here to rebuild and support one another."

Aimee Pitts, Chair of OBAR’s Surf Fishing Committee expressed her gratitude to all those involved in making this event a remarkable success. She said, "The 26th Surf Fishing Tournament has once again showcased the spirit of unity and support within our community. We are deeply grateful to all the participants, volunteers, local businesses that donated raffle items, and especially our sponsors, Cola Vaughan Realty, Kellogg Supply, Steven Gillis State Farm Agency/Rocket Mortgage, Super Wings, Malarney & McCown, PLLC, Adam Upchurch with Marvel Realty Group, Island Insurance Agency, and Kathleen Haithcock with Howard Hanna- Outer Bank for making a difference for those in need."

The Disaster Relief and Scholarship funds help support individuals and families in the Outer Banks community during times of crisis, and also provide educational opportunities for local students. The success of this tournament underscores the community's commitment to helping others and making a positive impact on the lives of its residents.
